World 7, Exploration A

Clothing rental company advert.

Closet for Hire is a clothing website in World 7 where customers can rent, donate and upcycle clothes as part of the Utility Clothing Scheme, an act which was put in place during WWII in response to a shortage of materials. On this website customers can browse a wide selection of garments then choose which ones they would like to rent for an occasion/event, and the duration they wish to hire the garment for. Using Closet for Hire to rent clothes reduces fast fashion and waste textiles as it gives pre-loved garments further life, and it offers a cheaper alternative to buying new clothes. The slogan “hang it, don’t trash it” reflects a strong belief that all garments can be transformed into new and there is a section on the website where customers can learn about how to upcycle their own clothes using tutorials and workshops. By upcycling clothes, Closet for Hire aims to bring life to old garments and create new, interesting looks.
