World 145, Exploration A

Web page of second hand clothing adverts.

A decade ago in World 145, a virus had hacked all systems and forced the entire population to adapt to new means and the platform shown here, Label Unknown. People are only able to post pictures with digital clothing, either bought and rented from brands or self-constructed, they are also able to sell second-hand clothing and build a sense of community through sharing. This not only discourages unnecessary buying but is also a way of allowing everyone to be more expressive regardless of social class.

This Exploration was contributed by Pavwan Ahmad, Tamara Naoura and Tania Dubayssi (located in United Arab Emirates, Pakistan and Lebanon), developed from a World contributed by this group, using a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence which allows others to share and adapt the work in any medium and for any purpose, providing that they credit the authors and share their material using the same Creative Commons licence.

Does this World remind you of something?

I am keen to hear about any historical or contemporary real-world examples – whether individual practices, subcultures or mainstream activities – that this fiction brings to mind.

Please share any such examples using this form. Thank you!
