World 218

World 218 separated from our world when the internet was created and strict bans around media sharing were put in place. Images cannot be shared throughout the entirety of the internet and social media is not allowed. Communication with others via the internet is only possible through email and information can only be posted by those who acquire a license to do so. People dress solely by personal and local preference, as there’s no outside influence. Dress styles are diverse throughout countries. It is difficult for fashion chains to sustain themselves and fashion is often sold from locally run stores.

What if …

the social media and image sharing was banned?

Issue targeted:

How would different towns, states, provinces, and countries dress differ from one another?

Inspiration:

Fashion trends online and digital fashion models.

Does this World remind you of something?

I am keen to hear about any historical or contemporary real-world examples – whether individual practices, subcultures or mainstream activities – that this fiction brings to mind.

Please share any such examples using this form. Thank you!
