In World 238 all clothes have to be ordered from a tailor and created with recyclable materials or blends. Just like in Medieval and Victorian times, where tailors were the designers, and stylists were adorning dresses, people have to go and get their clothing needs met through local tailors or fashion houses.
This practice diminishes overconsumption, increases creativity in design, boosts local job markets for tailors and modistes, and best of all it is size inclusive. Thrift stores still exist however, and tailors take back clothing and reuse materials. Looking back in time could save our future.
What if …
all clothes were made to order by tailors and modistes and from recyclable materials?
Issue targeted:
Overconsumption and textile waste
Inspiration:
The tailors and adorners of the 18th century in Paris who elevated clothing for the rich and the masses.
