World 62, Enactment i: game

What if garments were sold via text-only description, not images?

In World 62, images portraying clothes cannot be distributed. A recent Fashion Fictions enactment brought this world to life via a collaborative activity in which garments were creatively described in words.

Atlas of the Future commissioned game designers Alexander Swords and Bella Battersby to draw on the story of this enactment to create an interactive game, Fashion Insproesis Experience.

We invite you to enter this textual, poetic world …

Game by Alexander Swords and Bella Battersby for Fashion Fictions and Atlas of the Future. Many thanks to the Enactment participants whose experiences informed the game.

This Enactment was devised by Amy Twigger Holroyd, building on an Exploration created by Wendy Ward and Jana Melkumova-Reynolds, which was in turn developed from a World contributed by Talia Hussain, using a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence which allows others to share and adapt the work in any medium and for any purpose, providing that they credit the authors and share their material using the same Creative Commons licence.

Does this World remind you of something?

I am keen to hear about any historical or contemporary real-world examples – whether individual practices, subcultures or mainstream activities – that this fiction brings to mind.

Please share any such examples using this form. Thank you!
