This Enactment was developed from

This Enactment explored World 220, in which people embrace an endless variety of stains.
It was organised by Valentina Baer, Mariana Erazo, Daniela García, Paulina García and Nicolás Hernández, third-year undergraduate BA Design students in the Faculty of Architecture and Design at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
It was one of a number of enactments that were created by students for a public event, Wearable Speculations, at Juanita Echeverri’s gallery in Bogotá.
The text guiding this Enactment:
In World 220, humans have established a new relationship with their garments and stains. The era of bleaches and cleaners that polluted the planet’s waters has come to an end. It is gratifying to stroll through the streets and observe how people proudly display the marks that reflect their life and experiences. In this world, individuals prefer to wear clothing in light tones, whites, and beiges, as they are more prone to getting stained easily.
The enactment invited visitors to experience the culture of World 220 by exploring six ‘stain profiles’: dancing spirit, athletic determination, essential care, daily energy, travel adventure and artistic expression and then locating a garment connected with this profile and hunting for the relevant stain. Visitors were then invited to reflect on their experiences and share their own memorable stains.

The whole Wearable Speculations event was a great success, attracting a big audience to experience the fictional worlds. The students were proud of their achievements.
Here is a reflection from group member Daniela:
Stains are errors, are unwanted changes. And we humans, we don’t like mistakes. What does it say about our society?
We eliminate anything that reminds us of our mistakes, which is not likeable. And we invited people to connect with the stories of their mistakes, the experiences behind them, and their emotions. And as pictures do, understand stains as memory containers.
