World 245

Resulting from increased strict copyright laws, the principles of couture in World 245 trickle down to ready-to-wear lines, not the aesthetic elements. Guided by the intentionality of couture, values of quality, storytelling, personalization, craftsmanship, pricelessness, and longevity are applied to the design and production of everyday dress.

The fashion industry has transformed into a slower-moving system where fashion cycles are more deliberate, and the ability to integrate and share these principles with consumers in an accessible manner underpins success. With the focus diverted from the image of fashion, many brands develop models of co-creation that rely on a process of making and self-reflection to create garments deemed priceless on the basis of emotional attachment.

What if …

the principles of couture trickle down to ready-to-wear lines, not the aesthetic elements

Issue targeted:

fashion’s reliance on image which perpetuates a culture of overproduction and overconsumption

Inspiration:

couture, crafting & “SLOW + FASHION – and Oxymoron – or a Promise for the Future…?”
