World 246

It’s 2050 in World 246 and the UN has banned shipping waste across international borders. The United States has mandated that each citizen can only have 1 of each garment. This is in an effort to combat overconsumption as well as waste. The government provides a checklist of items that can only be replaced due to wear and tear, or outgrowing an item. All citizens, regardless of gender identity, receive the same list. They do not have to have every item in their wardrobe, but there is a limit on how many of each. Our focus shifts from quantity, to quality. Consumers are more conscious about their buying habits.

What if …

the USA had rations on clothing?
